NATO's dismemberment of Yugoslavia comes back to haunt it as Putin recognizes breakaway Ukrainian provinces
What's good for the goose...
Not hard to see the parallels between what happened with Croatia-Kosovo-Serbia in the ‘90s and what’s happening in Ukraine today.
A couple of rogue provinces rebelled against Belgrade, and NATO, lead by the USA, took it upon itself to bomb Yugoslavia for a few months, till the Serbs appreciated the error of their ways and the righteousness of our cause.
NATO set the precedent for what’s unfolding in Ukraine right now. Russia just recognized Ukraine’s breakaway states as independent nations. By NATO standards, Putin is now entitled to bomb Kyiv until such time as the Ukrainians appreciate the error of their ways and the righteousness of Putin’s cause.
How long will it take for the war-mongers in Washington and Brussels to appreciate the error of their ways?
The end of NATO is for all practical purposes the end of the American Empire. Sure, they’ll still have AUKUS and the Five Eyes, but that’s hardly the makings of a global hegemon.
America’s warrior intellectuals will figure it out sooner or later.
Hopefully sooner, but I’m not optimistic.
As dull as those people are, it’s likely they’ll inflict a whole lot of damage before they have their light-bulb moment.
Let’s pray I’m wrong.
I agree completely with your historical comparison, but am not sure what you're suggesting our "warrior intellectuals" need to figure out. That NATO needs to cease to exist? That "The end of NATO" line is confusing your point, which is, precisely?
